Hello, a warm welcome to everyone,

Here we are at the end of the year and for many this is a time for reflecting on the results of choices and actions made in 2011 and considering what we want to focus our time and attention on in 2012; in essence the contemplation of the law of cause and effect otherwise known as karma, both past – reaping (2011) and future – sowing (2012). Personally, knowing each action I take creates future karma is a reassuring thought as it puts the creation of my life in my hands, one choice at a time.

Here are some questions you may want to ask yourself as you review 2011

Did I make choices that my body and mind could be at ease with? If not what did I learn from the experience and how can I do it differently in the future? If I did what did I learn from the experience?

When some unplanned situation came my way did I stay connected and grounded in dealing with it? It is good to have dreams and goals however sometimes the unexpected happens bringing both treasures and challenges. We can’t control everything and everyone else (exhausting job) but we can be in charge and creative in how we deal with the curve balls life brings us.

Did I accomplish what I set out to in 2011 even when my intention was to be goal-less – if not why? Were my daily actions in harmony with my goals?

Lastly, did I take responsibility for the choices I made? When we blame other people for the choices we make or didn’t make we put ourselves in a position of feeling helpless and powerless.

I hope 2012 brings you an abundance of health, wealth, wisdom, laughter, and love – Catherine♥

Wellness Tip

Creating Ritual

Often we make plans or review a situation as we go about our day multi – tasking. I would like to encourage you as you review 2o11 and make plans for 2012 to be mindful and create a ritual.

People often associate rituals with religion or the weird and mystical and yet we have built many rituals into our routines without realizing it. They set the scene and put people in a particular mindset. Here are some examples: the weekly office meeting and the ritual of coffee and treats that goes with it; the end of a day where we feel tired and the ritual of a candle and scented bath; the setting of a mood with music, candles, scent, for a sensual evening with a partner; putting on certain types of music to do housework or exercise. These are just a few of the many rituals that we’ve created.

Here are some ideas as you do your yearly review:

Light a candle, get a container that is safe for burning paper, write down the highlights of goals and situations that did and didn’t work out for you over the past year.

Read your list (one situation / goal at a time) out loud and pay attention to what is happening physically and emotionally as you review. Consider what you have learned from the experience and write down on a piece of paper any residue of emotion or thoughts that are detrimental to your well being and then burn it. Check back in with your body, if you have let go you will feel released, or empty, or peaceful. When you are finished take an epsom or sea salt bath, footbath, or shower.

When setting your goals/dreams for the New Year create a meaningful ritual. Appeal to all your senses with the use of appropriate lighting, scents and music. Write down what you want to create then read it out loud – does your body believe it if not adjust your goal until it is digestible and do-able.

The new moon in Capricorn brings a Saturnian energy to the next month – so it is all about containment and a one step at a time approach to life. Be disciplined, realistic, make sure your thoughts and actions are congruent and you will get to where you want to go.

Watch out for being overly serious, judgemental and cautious. Be cool headed but not cold hearted and when questioning if something is right or wrong for you make sure fear isn’t the deciding factor.

Living In Sync With The Monthly Solar/Lunar Cycles

Once a year the new moon (for the period of a month) will highlight a particular area of your life. When I refer to a month I’m referencing the lunar not calendar month.

Working consciously with the new moon helps you to be in harmony with nature and your own unique timing and flow.

DID YOU KNOW at the time of a new moon the sun and moon are conjunct meaning they are at the same degree in a particular sign. This is why new moon periods are considered ideal times for starting a project – imagine dynamic and magnetic energy fusing together.

The new moon is on December 24th, at 02 °of Capricorn (11:06 am MST) the Full Moon is on January 9th at 18° of Cancer (12:30 am MST)

The new moon is a good time to set intentions, look for resources and take actions that support growth in the area of your life the new moon falls in.

Continue to focus and build energy around your projects until the full moon after that re-evaluate and look at where you are with whatever you seeded at the new moon. You should have greater clarity at this point as to what is working or what isn’t.

Look at what changes you need to make – after the full moon the energy begins to wane becoming more reflective.

How to work with the cycles:

If you don’t know your ascendant read the description based on your Sun sign (month you were born) please see Sun Sign dates at end of article.

If you know your ascendant/rising sign read the description for the house the new moon falls in according to your ascendant. (to determine ascendant you need to know the time of day you were born).

Please remember this is not a complete picture of all the cycles taking place in your life. Have Fun!!!!!

Following is a list of where the Capricorn new moon falls and a few ideas on how to work with it.

Pisces Sun/Rising: Excitement and opportunities in this area. Read keywords and suggestions for #11

Following is a list of some of the basic house associations (areas of life). Once a year the sun and moon come together and activate a particular area of your chart. When the new moon falls in one of these areas it is a natural time to focus your attention on and make minor or if there are other cycles to support it major changes.

1 Keywords: outer mask, personality, disposition, appearance, physical body, health, beginnings.

Suggestions: During this month you will experience your birthday (sun sign in Capricorn) which is your natural new year. Happy Solar Return! Take time to question whether your appearance, physical health and the mask you wear in the world is congruent with how you internally see yourself. The new moon is a good time to start make changes that allow you to feel more comfortable in your own skin.

2 Keywords: values, self value and worth, possessions, financial affairs, earning ability, debts, talents/gifts.

Suggestions: During the new moon cycle look at how you are managing your material resources. What changes can you make that will help you feel nourished and secure? What talent do you possess that if developed will bring you satisfaction and possible material gain? What do you consider valuable – what does this reflect back about self worth and values?

3 Keywords: all forms of communication (talking, listening, and writing) and communication tools, learning and taking in new ideas, perception, neighbourhood, siblings, means of transportation, short trips.

Suggestions: Now is the time to look at bringing in resources that further develop communication and encourage growth in your perception of you and your perception of the world. Take the time to quickly write down (don’t edit and over analyze) how you see the world and you may find that earlier childhood perceptions color it. On a mundane level this is a good time to have fun and buzz around town, Take a look at what you are reading, watching, listening to and what type of conversations you participate in – how do these activities make you feel?

4 Keywords: physical home, parents, ancestral lineage, psychological roots, private life, real estate and property.

Suggestions: There is a focus on family which can be as simple as spending more time with them or on a deeper level exploring what qualities and beliefs you inherited from them. It is a good time to look at making changes in your home or making a move. Question whether your home reflects who you are now. If you walked through and observed it through the eyes of a stranger what would it say about you?

5 Keywords: creativity, romance, love, children, pregnancy, what you do for fun, hobbies, sports, speculation.

Suggestions: Look at what brings you joy and makes you feel open hearted. Do you find time to play? What outlet do you have for creative expression? This is a good time to focus on children – spending time with them or depending on your age procreation. If you’ve been involved with activities that make you feel passionate, alive and overflowing with love, share it – if you haven’t find some.

6 Keywords: work, health, health care routines, responsibility, service, pets, employees.

Suggestions: This is the time to look at how well you take care of yourself and what your energy level is like. Do you feel strong, radiant, and vibrant? If not consider making adjustments to self care routines. Look at your attitude towards work and service. Do you love what you do and enjoy continuing to grow in either a job, volunteer position etc? When we feel competent in some area of our life we often end up sharing our gift with others which is entirely different than resentfully doing something for others.

7 Keywords: partnerships both business and romantic, marriage, divorce, partnership agreements, what may be weak and undeveloped in ourselves that we explore through a partner (consciously or unconsciously), dealing with the public.

Suggestions: This is the time to start, renew, or leave a partnership. Whether in a relationship or not, for a deeper understanding of this area of your life consider the following. When you are in a relationship, what is your level of commitment? Do you tend to project on your partner undeveloped or disowned parts of yourself? Do you understand the difference between dependence, independence and interdependence?

8 Keywords: regeneration, transformation, surgery/health, death, sex, and financial / physical / psychological support you receive from others, insurances, inheritances, research, investigation.

Suggestions: When the new moon falls in this house you have an opportunity to look beneath the surface and explore the following – Your beliefs regarding, death or any type of transformation –such as the ending of a job, relationship or entrenched values/patterns.

Your beliefs regarding sex, intimacy, and the understanding of sexual energy as a life force. Your beliefs regarding how much support you have in the world.

9 Keywords: travel, education, religion, philosophy, ethics, natural laws, laws, visions, higher mind, foreigners, foreign dealings.

Suggestions: Whether for fun or to shake up your routine and limited beliefs there is an opportunity to explore and potentially expand your view of the world and personal ethics/philosophy through study, travel or just taking the time to experience different cultures.

10 Keywords: profession, destiny, reputation (how the world sees you), status, fame, employer, government/authority, business activities.

Suggestions: Look at what role you play in your community (it will change at different periods of your life) for example parent, business mogul, baker, volunteer, outcast, actor and question if it is a good fit. It can be easy to get locked into roles and positions that don’t fulfill who we are and our life purpose (yes we all have a purpose).

11 Keywords: friends and our attitudes to them, clubs and social groups we align ourselves with, organizations, humanitarian interests, future directions and goals, circumstances beyond our control.

Suggestions: What goals and directions do you envision for your future? It is easier to accomplish goals when aligned with friends and/or groups that support and have similar dreams/visions for the future. That could be a recovery group, business organization, political party or a cooking club. If you have a goal chances are someone else has a similar or at least compatible one –seek them out.

12 Keywords: transcendence, spiritual and psychic experiences, escapism, karma, liberation, confinement, hospitals, institutions, hidden strengths and weaknesses.

Suggestions: When the new moon falls in this area of one’s life it is time to retreat and let go of the world and our place in it. Now is the time to dream, meditate, create and/or be in nature. Withdraw but don’t escape in unhealthy ways.

Hello, a warm welcome to everyone,

I love the phrase “sitting more deeply in myself”. The first time I heard it the idea resonated with me suggesting a connected, grounded inner state which comes from self knowing and acceptance.

I think that self connection is a step one takes in coming to know more of who they are. For a variety of reasons, in infancy or childhood, we can get disrupted and disconnected from our inner knowing and experience the repercussions such as over active, over analytical, second guessing mind. This disconnect keeps us from knowing what is right or wrong for us and doesn’t allow the body and mind to act as one body. It is like the old saying “the right hand doesn’t know what the left one is doing’. That translates into a push/pull and an exhausted bodymind.

I used to think that disconnection only came from situations where a person experienced trauma but have come to realize that in varying degrees many of us deal with it. Part of the cause is we have been taught that answers we receive externally are better or more accurate than our inner knowing.

The journey to learn to sit more deeply in self is not for the feint of heart. It takes courage to take your eyes away from the world and turn your gaze inward as you learn how to reconnect and build self trust.

Another word I love is unbounded. The idea of becoming unbounded appeals, much like the old Star Trek show boldly going where one hasn’t gone before experiencing unexplored talents, intelligence and imagination. I think “sitting more deeply in self” leads to a desire for that unrestricted, unbounded state.

This is the time of year associated with the sign of Sagittarius, an archetypal energy connected to exploration and expansion – the traveller, teacher, student of life and possibilities. This month expand your horizons; at the start of the day take a few conscious breaths and make that inner connection, you might be amazed at where your journey takes you. Catherine♥

Mercury goes retrograde for a 3 week period several times a year. During a Mercury retrograde it is a good idea to take more time (re-look and re-think) when dealing with matters related to communication such as computers, phones, conversations etc.

It is not uncommon during the retrograde periods for miscommunications to occur with both people and machines. If you need to sign contracts of any kind during the Mercury retrograde do a double check and make sure you understand what you are signing. If travelling verify reservations and pack a change of clothes in your carry-on luggage in case your bags travel to a different location than the one you planned for.

Keep a sense of humor, think before you speak, really hear what another person has to say and all will be fine.

The new moon (solar eclipse) is on November 24th, at 2° of Sagittarius ( 11:10 pm MST) the full moon (lunar eclipse) is on December
10th, at 18° of Gemini (7:36 am MST ).

Suggestions: During this month you will experience your birthday (sun sign in Sagittarius) which is your natural new year.

SUN SIGN DATES: Aries: March 20 – April 20, Taurus: April 20 – May 21, Gemini: May 21 – June 21, Cancer: June 21- July22/23, Leo: July 22/23 – August 23, Virgo: August 23 – September 23, Libra: September 23- October 23, Scorpio: October 23- November 22, Sagittarius: November 22- December 21/22, Capricorn: December 21/22 – January 20, Aquarius: January 20 – February 18, Pisces: February 18 – March 20.
